As discussed throughout this book, PNG has great potential and beauty, but at this time it is also facing many challenges. We would hope that if invited to do so, Australians would be very happy to further assist this independent developing nation when if and when required, as it strides to reach its full potential. As the Australian ABC television journalist Natalie Whiting noted on 3 November, 2022 while covering the Kokoda 80th anniversary, Australia and Papua New Guinea have a shared history and will hopefully or probably have a shared future.
